Jeanne Giordano has been a key participant in a series of significant urban revitalization projects where she brings her bold vision and unique design and programming expertise in planning public spaces and devising creative and effective retail strategies. Since 1996, her company has been commissioned by a variety of high-profile institutions, private, and governmental entities, including Harvard and Columbia Universities, Barnard College, Battery Park City Authority, NYC Economic Development Corporation, Times Square BID, Decca Label Group, Sony Plaza Inc., Metropolitan Pavilion, New York Marriott Marquis, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Wave Hill, and FDR Presidential Library.
Prior to forming her own company, Ms. Giordano directed the Grand Central Terminal Development Office for the MTA, where she conceived and developed a retail program that was critical to the renaissance of the long-neglected landmark. She introduced the now universal holiday markets in 1990 as well as a variety of other retail concepts, events, exhibitions, promotional and entertainment features.
Ms. Giordano began her career with the City of Philadelphia when the director of City Planning was the renowned Edmund Bacon. As Director of Development for the City of Salem, Oregon (1975-1979), she conceived and implemented an ambitious multi-million dollar retail and commercial downtown revitalization plan. From 1981-1986, Ms. Giordano managed mixed-used urban projects for Rouse & Associates and the Carley Capital Group in Philadelphia.
Ms. Giordano is a Fellow in Design of the American Academy in Rome, recipient of the Loeb Fellowship from Harvard Graduate School of Design, on the Executive Committee of the Urban Land Institute New York District Council, a board member of the National Theater of Scotland and the Kronos Quartet, and a member of the Japan Society’s Innovator’s Program. She is a frequent guest lecturer on the design and programming of public space, markets, and mixed-use projects and has contributed to the Journal of the Society of Architectural Historians. Jeanne recently stepped down from the WX Board, having made significant contributions to the organization as Program Chair. She is one of the successful small business owners that contribute to the quality of life of our cities.
Ms. Giordano was honored by WX New York Women Executives in Real Estate as Woman of the Year 2008 for her contributions to the city and to the organization.
